Beating the heat

The predicted heat for today has arrived. My weather gauge is telling me it is 43.2 degC (109.76degF) on the veranda and I definitely won't argue with it. If I had a swimming pool, I'd probably be spending plenty of time in there keeping cool but as it happens, I do not. In an effort to keep cool and carry on, I've been up since before the sun  getting the outside chores completed. I'll do some more when the sun settles behind the hills later. The rest of the day has been mostly inside. It's the best way to beat the heat here.

I've also been sewing. A couple of lightweight shopping totes to send somewhere or other. I like a sewing and a lot of the time I like to make things that require thinking and measuring and careful cutting. Not today! Today it's the easy stitching kind that's best.

Card and letter writing  are absolutely perfect hot or cold weather pursuits. The post office is kept busy with the amount of mail that comes in and out of this house. In fact, if I have your address, expect a little card and note from me next month.

What I haven't done is bake. I need to bake something for the lunchboxes and for my trip on Tuesday. I'll do it when I have the oven on for tonight's dinner- pizzas. Why do I do these things? I should use the outdoor pizza oven but it is rendered useless in these high fire danger periods.

It was a stinking hot day here too so I've spent a good part of the day plonked on the lounge browsing pinterest.
Your cat is very cute perched atop the dresser. x

Hey there, I found you via the NaBloPoMo blogroll.

I had a quick look around and I can tell right away this blog is a keeper, so I'll be back. :)

As part of NaBloPoMo I try to comment on as many participating blogs as I can, and I am also adding participating blogs to my feed reader. So I’m just dropping by to let you know I’ve added your blog to my feedreader, whenever you publish a post I will see it. :)

I have created three bundles on Inoreader so that bloggers can easily visit other participating NaBloPoMo bloggers which you can find here -

http://www.snoskred.org/2014/11/nablopomo-bundles-final-edition.html

Your blog is in the second bundle.. I also have a link up going at my place so my readers can find participating blogs which you are more than welcome to add your blog link to.

Looking forward to seeing your posts. You may see me drop by again during November, but it might be December before I finish my first drop by to blogs if I don't get faster at leaving comments. :)

Happy NaBloPoMo to you!

Oh Tracy, that is so hot and in November! I read an article this week and the experts say that we have a 70% chance of another El Nino in the new year. Great, even hotter to come. I worry about my Mum in Leeton. She is old school and will sit in front of a fan with a cloth on her head rather than turn the air con on. She's 85. I agree, too hot for outside.

We had some hot days during last week, but today it's cooled.....it's currently raining....hopefully some of it might get to you....... I'm also one who still sends Christmas cards, although this year with all that's been going on I have not yet made a start and usually like to have them posted on 1st December......hmmmmmm

I just dread to think what this summer will be like! That blasted humidity is what makes it unbearable too! You've got the right idea, starting early with chores.
