Asparagus

There is just enough asparagus of a decent size for dinner tonight. Well maybe not dinner exactly more like a an entrée or a teaser of asparagus pleasures to come.

It's all the more delicious because I never buy it and we only eat it from our own garden so the season is short and sweet.

I've planted more.

I love asparagus also. I only eat the fresh stuff now, no more tins! We are lucky to get it at our local Farmer's Market, so I know where and who grows it.
I have a question though. When do you know when to stop picking so the plant can grow and feed itself enough for the next season?

I think it is so good but I am the only one in our house, they probably had if fixed wrong. Your crop looks large and healthy.

My hubby thinks we never have any asparagus from our plants, but that is because i cant resist picking and eating it right out in the garden....

Ours is shooting at the moment as well. If I don't get to it soon enough though I have useless long fronds. I grows so quickly at this time of year.
