I have been told by people in the know, that I tend to paint a more rosy picture on this blog than what actually goes on in real life. Ofcourse I don't lie or fib but I probably do leave out the things that are not successful or as nice. I don't really know whay anyone would want to read the good let alone the bad. To prevent further rebuking from my husband and sisters, I will show some of the minor hiccups we have from time-to-time.
Thankfully, I can't take credit for this wee baking mishap. Hope was given free range to cook a batch of patty cakes alone on the weekend. Grace helped her with the oven and made sure the measurements were accurate. So I guess it was just a bad recipe. I did taste the cakes and I think there was too much baking soda in them and as the recipe did say 1 tablespoon, maybe it was the recipes fault. The chooks didn't mind them though.
I do love my pets but when I found this photo on my camera, I realised that I don't love them as much as my children do. While Grace was working on her science at the kitchen table, she allowed Puss to drink the water from the candle bowl. I'm not sure I would accept a dinner invitation to my house. Apparently this wasn't the first time it had happened.
I'm off to clean the table,
Tracy

Life's bloopers make it all interesting, don't they.
I reckon you're right about the recipe being a dud - 1 tablespoon of baking powder seems like quite a lot! Maybe 1 teaspoon is what they meant.
Did the patty cakes taste odd? If they tasted OK they would have been nice as the base for a trifle, or with custard.
You are to be congratulated on your grateful heart and rose-coloured glasses..... it is the antidote to depression. Of course there are times when we have problems that we need to share, that is not what I am referring to. Do we rush out with the camera when there is a grey gloomy sky, or when there is a glorious sunset?
Have a lovely week.
Richest Blessings - Jan
I don't know what to add, I just know it is a positive thing the rosy picture. I have lots of bloopers, lots this year, but like to forget them quicker than the positive bits.
Hi Tracy!
What Jan said so beautifully!! :-)
I reckon it's great to have a cat that finds it's water in the floating candle bowl, better than the loo, and I thought you were going to say it was drinking Grace's science project.
Who hasn't had this happen to them when they've cooked patty cakes? I find them very temperamental if you put too much or too little in the patty pan...and some patty pans do not hold up to the mixure causing them to run everywhere, like Hope's. I always bake mine in patty pans in muffin tins now so the shape stays true.
And the cat on the table? My 'outdoor' cat got in the other day and proceeded to spew up a slimy mouse and about a cup of dry cat food...on my dining room floor (tiled, luckily)! Urp! So disgusting that a cat slurping water from a candle bowl on a table looks positively elegant to me, thank you! :)
Cheers - Joolz
my first thought with them patty cakes was my hubby as he would say"just pop them in a bowl and cover them with ice cream"....and the cat picture is priceless, cheers Vickie
